The five-day gorilla habituation and trekking from Kigali will start from Kigali Rwanda, take you to do a city tour before being transferred to Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest national park at Rushaga sector where you will go for gorilla habituation. You will also have a chance to do a community visit before returning to the forest for the gorilla trekking. After the community visit, return to Rwanda and head to volcanoes national park for a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village and then head out for your next destination.

Detailed itinerary

1st day: pickup at Kigali airport, Kigali city tour, transfer to Bwindi

On arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be meant by your local guide who will take through your travel plan before driving you to Kigali for the city tour. During the city tour, you will visit the genocide museum to witness the history of tragedy that killed over a million people in 1994 Rwanda genocide. From their, you will proceed to Kimironko market to get to know hoe Rwandese carry out their small business and go through their daily life.

Depending on the time of your arrival, you can also visit the taxi park to see how the transportation business is conducted within Rwanda’s Kigali city and beyond. After the city tour, transfer to Uganda to Bwindi national park where you will check-in your lodge for the night stay and dinner.

2nd day: Gorilla habituation at Rushaga sector

Wake up very early in the morning to head to the Bwindi national park headquarter. Make sure that you are at the headquarter by 7:30 am as habituation exercise begins very early in the morning. Also not forget to carry a packed lunch as gorilla habituation is a full day activity. At the park headquarter, you will be joined by a team of expert together with the park rangers who will lead you to the wild to start the search for the gentle giants of Africa.

Once encountered, you will be given 4 hours to spend with these gentle giants in their natural habitats while getting all your questions being attended to by the team of expert that you will be with in the forest. In the evening, you will return to the park headquarter where you will find your driver who will drive you back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and night stay.

3rd day: relaxation ad community visit

After a previous day of hard work in the wild, this a day of refreshment and relaxation. After the morning breakfast you can go for an optional community visit where you will visit schools and hospitals. You will also be able to offer a helping hand to the needy that you will encounter during this visit. The young ones that you will meet will also thing and dance for you which will give you a feel of the traditional music.

4th day: Gorilla trekking

Another day, another adventure, wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast and then transfer to Bwindi national park headquarter where you will be briefed about gorilla trekking experience before being assigned to the group of other seven to go search for the gorilla family that will be assigned to you.

Searching for a gorilla family takes between one to six hours and once you meet your gorilla family, you will be allocated one hour to spend with the mountain gorillas while observing their behavior while taking the photos as a remembrance for your once in lifetime experience. After fulfilling your dream adventure, return to your lodge for the dinner and overnight stay.

5th day transfer to Kigali, visit Iby’iwacu, catch a return flight

After the morning breakfast, transfer to Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. Then proceed to volcanoes national park where you will visit Iby’iwacu cultural village where you will get to know about the culture of Rwandese before heading to the airport for your you next destination.
