A 1-day Nyungwe Canopy Walk experience in Rwanda will bring you to the oldest and biologically diverse rainforests of Nyungwe where the mountainous landscapes are covered by dense vegetation. Detailed Itinerary
After having breakfast at your hotel, a designated driver guide will pick you up at 7:00am from the hotel, and with a packed lunch you will embark on a road trip to Nyungwe Forest National Park enjoying the magnificent landscape of Rwanda as the guide enlightens you about the history of this country and the common practices of the local people. You will also be able to see various important sites en route such as genocide
memorial sites, burial grounds, and also have a glance at Lake Kivu. Once you arrive at Nyungwe National Park, you will check in at the Uwinka Visitor’s Centre where you will register for the canopy walk and then you will be briefed about this activity. After the briefing, along with other guests, you will take a 1- hour hike to the canopy walkway. During the canopy walk, you will see numerous butterflies and birds and since this place inhabits chimpanzees and monkeys, you will also be able to spot some of them on this walk as well as a variety of unique tree species. This walk will also give you views of the East African region, lake Kivu, and the different parts of Nyungwe National Park. You will also be able to spot different birds and insects within this forest. This walk will take 2- hours after which you will return to the visitor’s center where you will meet your driver guide and proceed with your evening drive back to Kigali. Your driver guide will drop you off either at your hotel, place of residence, or Kigali International Airport where you will catch your flight to your next destination.
