Detailed Itinerary for 1-day gorilla expedition from Musanze at Volcanoes National Park
Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Musanze at 6:00 am with a packed lunch. Make sure to carry enough water before starting your journey to Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi. You will arrive at the park headquarters at 7:00 am. You will be welcomed with a hot rich cup of Rwandan coffee.
Briefing about the code of conduct and what to expect on a gorilla trekking adventure will then begin. In the meantime, your guide will help to get you allocated to the gorilla family that matches your preference.
After the briefing, a small group of 8 people, led by trackers and guides and escorted by porters will hike through bamboo-covered slopes to come into proximity with the mountain gorillas. This hike will take between 2 to 8 hours based on the movement of these creatures.
Once you find them, you will take up to 1 hour to observe these endangered species in their natural habitat as they go about their daily activities. such activities include feeding, playing, and building nests, among others. After the 1- hour you will return to the starting point where you will be awarded a gorilla trekking certificate. Your guide will then pick you up and drop you off either at your pick-up point or your preferred planned next destination.
